Once upon a time in my life

2014-2106

“By opting in this series for the polaroid technique, which in our analogue childhood was associated with the instant recording of the ordinary, with the diary provided by the family album, Cristina Fontsaré poses a paradox: because what she proposes to record is what is not visible, the sensory universe of childhood. She tries to capture what occurs when the boundary between reality and fiction in a child’s perceptive field is blurred, between the staging of her dreams and their unlikely fulfilment.
The secret pacts between children, the recurring disguises with which they journey through fleeting identities, their experimentation unshackled. Damsels camouflaged behind masks, drenched in glitter, seeking themselves in mirrors but also fearlessly passing through them to enter a mythical sphere, where all of nature becomes an enchanted garden”
